I've been a Hoosier living in America's heartland my whole life. It's easy to understand with the Indy 500 Speedway why racing has always been a huge part of my family's entertainment, along with the Pacers, Indians and Colts. We're equal opportunity cheerleaders as long as it's the home team.
I love packing up the kids and heading out to spend time outdoors together, whether it's at a sporting event, camping or just out on our boat. Okay, well, I admit I read while they fish... but it's always a good time.
I work very hard to make sure the kids know how important they are, not only to me, but to themselves. Being happy with yourself, with who you are, is so very important. I want my kids to grow and say, I was lucky, I was loved. So I treasure every second spent with them, whether it's watching them participating in a sports activity or simply listening to them tell us me how their day went. Tomorrow the opportunity may be taken from me. I don't spoil my children, we're not materialistic people, but it's amazing what opportunity and praise does for a child.
I've got some great stories to tell of our times camping, horseback riding, family vacations. I often use my family as a back-drop in my stories. I can pull up teen speech if I have to and developing a hero is easy when I had one of my own.
I'm a May 2006 graduate from Indiana University. I'd been going to school for so long - on and off - since I gained eyesight at twenty-two. I was often teased I was a professional student and a few hoped I'd graduated before my twins graduated high school. Well, I met my goal! I now have a Bachelor of General Studies. And, I'm toying with the idea of obtaining a Master degree of Public Affairs.

Storytelling has always been part of my internal makeup. It seems like since I was a little blind girl I've always wanted to write and would constantly weave stories in my head. Stories that were fed by fables of magical realism, myths and folklore. I spent a good part of my teenage years daydreaming about "what if's" and forming characters in my mind. Eventually I stopped just listening to my character's voices grumbling in my head and started putting their adventures to paper.
They're quite persistent. I love them all from their first whispering pleas to speak to the roar of the characters that simply won't be denied their voice. I write for myself. I author and create my worlds for my characters.
I've been seriously writing since 2001. My first love for reading will always be historicals, but that's not what I normally find myself writing. My first story was a children's tale. Shortly after, I listened to the characters in my head and wound up writing contemporaries, and paranormals. Now, four years later I'm exploring not only Indiana's history in a historical, but the future in a fantasy as well.
